Llech y Drybedd Llech y Drybedd Ancient Monument Small cromlech/dolmen situated in a field with spectacular views of the Preseli Hills. Standing in a field west of Moylegrove is Llech y Drybedd Cromlech. Legend has it that the capstone was thrown by a giant from Carningli Mountain to it's current resting spot.

Just a mile or two west of the better known Llech y Drybedd, Trellyffant is not a middle earth megalithic beast but rather just a muddle of large stones. I parked the car on the small lane to the chambers east, but it would probably be easier coming from the north after asking at the farm, if it is a farm, it has no living space.

Llech y Drybedd acts as a northern foresight to Bardsey from Pentre Ifan - it stands directly in line with Bardsey and Pentre Ifan, on the very top of the ridge which prevents intervisibility between these two locations. Llech y Drybedd connects an observer at Pentre Ifan with Bardsey, perhaps as a sign-post to this Otherworld.

The heading is wrong - the correct spelling s Drybedd - it's Welsh - obviously - and it's the name given to a three legged milking stool which the henge depicts - of the history - who knows ? This is an impressive megalithic tomb for which it is well worth the walk (preferably) along a grassy track past Penlan Farm to come suddenly upon, and be awed by, its magnificent setting on a high, bare plateau with sweeping views to Carn Ingli to the SW and Mynydd Preseli to the S.

'Llech y Dribedd ("Tripod Stone") burial chamber consists of a wedge shaped capstone resting on three uprights, the northern one of which is cracked. It measures 3m long and 2.8m in width, at its thickest end rests on two squat uprights. The capstone tapers in thickness, but only to a blunt square end which is supported by the only other.

There seems to be several spellings and translations of Llech-y-Tripedd, I've seen it referred to as Llech-y-Drybedd or Llech-y-Trybedd with translations relating to either three legs or three hares.
